Gift of the Heart Baby Care Kits
This spring St. Andrew collected all new baby items for the tiniest victims of disaster. On Sunday, June 2nd a baby shower was held in Reiden Hall to sort and bundle our baby care kits for special delivery to the nearest Presbyterian Disaster Assistance distribution center.
Decorations and light refreshments created an atmosphere of fun and service at the shower. There was sugar and spice and everything nice. Not to mention the snips and snails and puppy dog tails. A friendly competition between the boys and the girl’s team decided bragging rights and our baby’s name. Congratulations team “Andrew!”
The Mission committee wishes to applaud everyone who participated in our Baby Care kit project. A special shout out to those who knitted and crocheted many soft and cuddly baby blankets.
St. Andrew was able to assemble and mail off twenty-four darling bundles to the distribution center in Little Rock Arkansas. The Stork was busy, so Fed-Ex agreed to deliver within four days. Miscellaneous baby items left over from our project will be donated locally.
Thanks to your over whelming generosity, we also expect to have a financial gift of nearly three hundred dollars to forward on to PC/USA in Pittsburgh, PA. These funds will be used towards additional Gift of the Heart kits needed in the wake of disaster.
Our kits may be transported across the world, or to Tornado victims in the very heartland of the U.S. Wherever they go, please join our prayer that these tiny baby gifts bring great comfort, hope and joy to God’s people.
Yours in Christ ~ St. Andrew Mission Committee
